nameserver / resolving problems
« on: February 25, 2004, 09:43:39 AM »
I have a problem resolving internet addresses on my SME 5.6. The server serves the net fine so my websites are up and running. I cannot get out from the LAN though. What is wrong????
***********
Ifconfig on SME yields the following:
ifconfig eth0
inet addr:192.168.196.1 Bcast:192.168.196.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

ifconfig eth1
inet addr:62.61.141.6 Bcast:62.61.141.255 Mask:255.255.254.0   (should mask be
254?)!!!!

I can do a "dig www.tv2.dk @62.61.131.1" my nameserver.
System returns 'Answer section' with CNAME and IP on this server

I can do a traceroute to this server too, as well as to outside servers (other
than my own nameservers).

why can I not ping by name (resolve) www.dr.dk, www.ebay.com?
