Upgrading apache

My problem: When I browse my website photo galleries, I often get a blank page which needs to be refreshed (sometimes several times) to render the page for viewing - see:  http://www.westernportmedical.com.au/gallery

This problem is occurring with SME 6.0, Apache1.3.27-2, and PHP4.3.4 (which was upgraded for the installation of postgresql), and the current version of Gallery1.4.2 .

The problem did not previously occur with SME5.5 and its older versions of Apache and PHP, and with the older version of Gallery1.3 .

Checking all fora on the various websites, I can only find 1 posting where my "blank page" problem is mentioned, and the problem was fixed by upgrading Apache from 1.3 to 2.0 .

Other than doing a full backup first, is there any advice regarding upgrading Apache from source ?

Try upgrading you apache from http://rpmfind.net
Latest apache update for RH7.3 is apache-1.3.27-4

I have upgraded to apache-1.3.29-6 with a NORLUG Custom RPM built at
http://norlug.org/~chipster/rpm_index.pxml?cat=1
You need db4 rpm installed as well...

If you already haven't check, do you get any messages in /var/log/messages...
