SME 5.5 rebooting by itself with new telstra cable modem
« on: April 22, 2004, 05:52:51 AM »
Hi all,

Just had telstra issue me a new cable modem (the new version of the Surfboard.. SB5100).

Since 'plugging it in' Ive had a peculiar problem with my SME 5.5 server. It seems to be rebooting itself automatically every (about) 5minutes.

It will be working fine (email and web access) then i hear a 'beep' from the server and both email and web access (of the web proper, or just websites hosted on the SME server itself) is lost, and the server is not 'reachable' in any form... like it has just hung.

If I leave the modem swithced on, nothing happens.. BUT if I turn off the modm.. the SME box will reboot. Once reboot is compete, i can switcvh the modem back on, and all is fine for another 5 minutes or so. Then the 'beep' happens and I need to power down the modem again until reboot is complete.

Anyone able to help.. this is driving me insane!!!

Thanks in advance.

Below is an excerpt of my 'messages' log at the time of the reboot.

Does that indicate a heartbeat problem with the new modem?? Is that causing the reboot?
