I am not sure what you are trying to do ip cop and smoothwall are both firewall systems you don't need sme installed the ip cop software has its own linux based system and smoothwall too

If you want to use sme you can edit the iptables by hand or there are some contribs

Hello

Still unknown what you are trying to do
sme has a firewall in it If you want to just put a firewall in your network system you can use whatever one you like

I use coyotelinux it's easy to use and just runs from a floppy
I have tried most of the others and have used sme in the gateway mode but don't feel the version 6.0 port-forwarding is that good seems to have a problem inside my domain

also have done some testing on the firewall protection and found coyotelinux to be the best at stopping intrusion I like sme software very much but don't want everything on one box

my firewall is an old 233 with 16 megs of ram 2 network cards no hard drive or cdrom it will work on less I use the web interface to make any changes when needed and it just sits and runs coyotelinux

You can use sme for a 1 box setup in gateway mode with 2 network cards and I think there is a firewall rules contrib out there I recall

Again you have not really said what you are trying to get done
