Hi

I just installed from the cd and followed the screens did not do anything with scripts.

I can't access the scripts on the CD either as I have never been able to get a CD-ROM to mount :-(

Sorry to be a pain!

John

Have you ran at command line...

mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

if that one dont work try...

mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom

The hdc is the normal setting on a pc with ide hd as pri master and cdrom as sec master.

To umount cdrom just do...

umount /mnt/cdrom

or type...

eject

HTH

PS. Im currently downloading this iso from igloosys.com and currently getting 40K, so im having a  :pint: while i wait :-D

OK OK

Which smart ass fixed the CD-ROM mounting without telling me and making look like a right newbie!

Can mount CD and will search out these scripts and give them a go.

:-)

It's good to hear that things are going well for you. I have generally just used putty to copy the other RPM's folder to the root directory and the run the sh command to get the install under way.

My plan is to have the folder copied over during install on the next release so that should make it easier.

Also if anyone has ideas on further how to's etc that should be included please flick me an email, it would also help in the collating of additional packages to include if you could all send me an email of your idea's.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Hello Tony, thanks for the sme custom iso.

I have a couple of questions, which I wouldn’t mind answering…

1.   Have you built a custom iso from sme 6.0.1 ? I’ve tried a couple of times but get a /etc/ks.cfg error

2.   What did you do differently from Darrells excellent howto to build your sme6 iso ? I can build from 5.6 no problems, but not 6

Dean  :-o

I have done custom iso's for 6 also using the how-to for 5.6, either there are typographical errors or there are some changes between version 5.6 and 6 as I had to modify what I did slightly to make it work. It wasn't too hard though, just took a bit of head scratching to work out what was wrong. I'm not sure if results would vary depending on what version of sme you are actually using as the dev box (I was using a version 6 box as my version 5.6 boxes were retired already)

There is newer how-to for version 6.x by Darrell May that works flawlessly.
If somebody wants to try, use new how-to to avoid head scratching.

netjuke works great...not sure if it's that much better than the original mp3 jukebox (forgot what it was called) though.  I think I'll try to get that one working too. Took about 30 mins or so to install ALT-F1 | ALF-F2 many many times.

In the howto it says the dude couldn't ftp the inc-prefs.php to his /var/html/etc dir.  I had no problems though.

Hi

I even seemm to have managed to install CLamav - Whoa!

Got the happiest and best of this OS I have ever had in the last few years!

I don't know what you can and can't do concerning better ways to install but I would have thought a stage in the configure server  process that enables you to choose what options like spamassassin you want and goes away and sorts it out would be great. I think somewhere in this thread somebody else mentioned something like this?

Regards

John (very happy bunny!)

Just a thought. Why don't you include one folder for the tools that we usually use, i.e. putty, WinSCP, etc. This way we can have everything handy in one place.

Can someone kindly clue me about SARG report?  I have no ideas what it is all about...  Its there, the parent directory is now dated 26/3/04 and links to my primary page, the other directories are still dated 18 Jul 2002 and do nothing.
Many thanks.  chris.

Hi Mark,
I used Tony's custom ISO to upgrade my SME 6.3Beta test server and evrything worked OK including the additional rpms in Tony's ISO. You should still do a full back up first if it is your working server! I didn't have to worry as mine was done on a test server. Hope this helps.
