6.0 Accessing ibays from Virtual Domains
« on: April 01, 2004, 02:48:02 PM »
Ok, so Im new to this, and hence am probably doing something rather silly. However, I have my server set up and running. I have a primary domain, through which I can access all my ibays with http://lullabel/ibayname

I have a virtual domain set up, and pointing to the primary site. What I really want is to be able to access various ibays from here.

so perhaps http://some.dyndns.org/ibayname1 is one ibay and http://some.dyndns.org/ibayname2 is another.

At the minute I can allow access to a single specific ibay using  by modifying the virtual domain setup, but I can only ever get access to one ibay this way.

Do I need to put symlinks in to the primary ibay to fix this? it seems like a rather cobbled way of doing it.

Hello

what you have is virtual directories NOT domains
you don't need ibays to do that just directories under
your Primary/html directory

I am not sure what you really want to do

virtual domains point to ibays or to the Primary ibay
virtual directory can be under any domain name or virtual domain
name

hope this helps

What I really want is to be able to access all my ibays from over the internet. Because I have to point the virtual domain I have set up, I can only access files from that specific ibay

You should be able to access your ibays using any address set up as long as what ever you have set up in the ibay does not have a path set.

I.E. yourdomain1/ibay1 and yourdoamin2/ibay1 will show the same thing.

If however you installed gallery for instance in the ibay and set the path to the gallery and album as yourdomain1/gallery ibay then it can only be viewed from that path.

You can also of course have both ibays set to the one ibay say primary through the virtual domain set up.

I hope this helps.

I realize this thread is six months old, but I'm not finding much along these lines...

I'm actually having the same 'problem'.  I have two internet-registered domains.  The first I use internally, and the second externally.  The first domain, we'll call 'fs', is pointed at the 'fs' ibay and works fine.  The second domain, 'wod', is pointed at the 'wod' ibay.

Web mail and ACID work fine (those aren't in ibays).  What's not working are the ibays I set up for netjuke and MRTG.  Netjuke and MRTG work fine when I go to www.fs.com/netjuke or www.fs.com/mrtg from the LAN or from the 'net.  www.wod.com/netjuke and www.wod.com/mrtg don't work at all.

Is there something I can modify so the mrtg and netjuke ibays are accessible from my virtual domain as well as my primary domain?

[fs.com and wod.com are not my domains, just examples.  those names are actually what I called my ibays.  the domains will resolve on the net and I am not affiliated with them in any way.]
