Hi all,
I am trying to backup to desktop thru the e-smith manager.

The client machine is a Mac G4 running OS 9.1 and IE 5.
The e-smith server is version 4.1.2.

When i backup to desktop (once a week) the download starts and runs fine until some point wher it becomes an error. This happens (so far) between 14 and 20 hrs after commencing the backup.

HAs anyone else had similar problems ?? IS there a way to specify which ibox's are to be backed up and which arent?  Ideally, I have only 2 iboxes and the mysql databases they use that require backing up. Is this possible??

There is no way to specify what to back up unless you make your own backup script. But I use the backup to desktop function on my windows machine over my home LAN and it takes about 20 min to back up the 700 MB I have and it works fine. What are you backing it up over.. (What speed link, your lan or over the net?)

 Also I will try it at home tonight on my iMac to see if there is a problem with doing the function using a Mac. I will post it to this fourm when I am done trying it out..

Im backing up over a  LAN.
The download manager in IE says that (on two different occasions) one backup stoppd at 15 hrs 29mins at 681meg and another at 14hrs 38 mins at 607.3meg.

an earlier failed backup stopped at 20hrs 45 mins at 277meg transfered .

This indicates to me that there is no real correlation between time and backup size. At he very least it has me very confused.. is it possible that mabye an e-smith cron job is starting up during the backup, therefor causing the backup to desktop to stall??

I'm very interested in hearing the results you get with your imac.
