Hi,

first, SME is GREAT!!! :)

Just began using it and I think it is great :)

Is it possible to have a forum hosted by SME? Whats the hardware profile I need to have to run a server?

thank you very much :)

Refer to the documentation for hardware requirements. It really depends on what you want to do. But I think the lowest requirement is a 90mhz processor with 64mb of ram and a 1g drive. I have had it running very happily on a pentium 200 with 64mb of ram and a 2g drive.

As for forum software it really depends again on what you want. You can install Xoops or E-Xoops in an Ibay and run the forums in them. That is what this forum is using.

You can also have PHPBB (the basic forum sofware used on contribs.org) without Xoops. The HowTo is here http://www.familybrown.org/howtos/phpbb2-howto.html. The latest version is 2.08 and can be found here http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php.

Serveral other forum packages also work on SME so do a bit of searching if you don't like PHPBB.
