Please report me if this work. All my NIC's I have, they do not support WOL.

You can modify the WOL script which resides in /custom/scripts.

This sounds like just what Ive been looking for to implement wol. I want to wake up my sme server which is in my basement because of limited space. So I currently have to run down there to power it on. I turn it off every night before I retire. Im connected to a DSL modem so theres no way to drop my connection and leave the server on without turning off my modem and loading up my hd with "fail to connect" logs. My question is: How do I install a .tar file? Im used to installing rpm files. Sorry if I sound dumb about this but Im a newbie to Linux stuff. Is there an easy way to convert this to an rpm? I am running 6.01 custom.

Any help is appreciated

Woodbuger, if you're still looking, use:

tar filename.tar.gz

a tip though, make sure you only use this once you've got the file, "filename.tar.gz" within its own directory.  such as "filename".  I used "tar" when it was sitting in amongst alot of other files and it unpacked it everywhere, making file structure messy.

Wake-on-lan isn't working for me.

It is enabled in bios... but it just doesn't work.


Anyone got this to work?  it would be a handy little feature to use...

cydonia: you need to enable wol in your nic properties also (usually under the advanced tab) if your nic supports it. If the option isnt there try getting the newest driver available for your nic. Some nics also need a wol cable connected to the motherboard for this to work.

When I try to install the DHCP-panel It appears as Unknown -> Unknown in the service manger nav menu. When I look at the dhcppanel entry in /etc/e-smith/web/functions the begining of the file looks like this:

Hmm, just a hunch but that doesn't look right. The file also looks the same in the directory it untarred into. I just got a fresh copy of the tar file from ibiblio, untarred it and ran the install.sh again but it looks the same. After the re-install I did a post-update and rebooted for good measure. Am I missing something basic here?

I issued another post-upgrade and a reboot and the memus rearranged themselves, hmmm. Oh, well it's working, I guess it just need a little push

If you look at the services starting when you reboot, you will see a service called dhcp-register-navpanel that is ran that puts the panel in the correct place.
It goes back to unknown if you issue an /etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf.

But, the reboot will put in back in place.

Oddly enough it did it again. The DHCP Panel reverted to Unknow -> Uunknown again. I ran /etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf and it is unchanged. Seems benign enough I guess I just let it go until I have to reboot for another reason.

Edit /home/e-smith/db/navigation with your preferred Editor. Delete the section "unknown".
Do /etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf
