Topic: SME Server 5.1 and a Seagate's TapeStor DAT 40

I installed this TapeStor external tape drive (SCSI ID 6)on a IBM server w/SME server 5.1.  On bootup, the system sees the tape drive but SME Server 5.1 software does not see the tape drive.  How do I get the software to see the tape drive.  I am new to this software.
