Ok, here is the story...
I decided to go to 6.0.1-01 to be in the cool club. I backed up my 5.6 install to desktop as well as MondoRescue. (It is a SCSI Raid 1 install.)
After backing it up, I booted to the 6.0.1-01 disk and performed a fresh install (no upgrade of 5.6) Upon completion of the install, I proceeded to restore the previous backup from desktop. All completed without error. I then, and this might be my mistake, applied the CHROOT contrib from Dungog.net. It installed with errors but the howto said to ignore them. (Seems to have worked about as well as ignoring those voices in my head)
Now, everything errors out. I try to make changes via the Server-Manager and I consistently get errors. "Operation status report: Unable to make designated changes" or something like that.
Any suggestions? A lot seems to be 'working', but I cant make any changes. VPN/SSH is enabled, but port scan shows those ports closed on the external interface. I can ssh in from the localside, but not remotely. I am tempted to go into the office tomorrow and start by removing CHROOT, but unfortunately CHROOT is a deal breaker. I HAVE to CHROOT my users. I guess if CHROOT really doesnt work on 6.0 then I'll have to go back to 5.6. (Thank heaven for Hugo and MondoRescue).
Ok, discourse complete. Any suggestions? I would like to be on 6.0, but I need this stable as soon as possible, and if that means going back to 5.6, then unfortunately that is what I will have to do.
