Topic: Access to SME Server via dial-up modem

How can I set up my SME 6 server to answer inbound modem calls, assign an IP via DHCP, and allow FTP data transfer to an Ibay?

I have a bunch of Symbol PocketPC 2002 devices with modems that I want sales reps to dial in to upload/download data.

For more information do an Advance Search for 'dial in'. Search in Forums. Be sure to click on 'Show all results' after the initial search results appear.

This has been tested with SME 6-0beta3. Not sure about newer versions but there should not be any problem.

DHCP will work.

For ftp access to Ibays you will need to do some searching but info is available.

Thanks for the resources -- I did some research on it and it seems like some people have had bad luck with that RPM -- I'm going to make a backup tonight and try it out; but can anyone out there give any positive accounts of this dial-in RPM working for SME 6.x

Chris,

Consider having SME online 24/7 with dialup and then use yourname.dyndns.org.  Your sales reps can then connect using the dyndns address.  Of course you might think about DSL or cable access for the SME server in this case to dramatically improve performance.
