Hi are these tools available or could they be installed on SME v6.0 ?

Does an IDE tape backup work with SME if yes please provide a model or manufacturer.

Just looking to replace my Suse 8.2 server.

re Dansguardian, I believe the dungog.net site has a at cost version, or you can try my draft howto at

which should allow you to instal and set it up OK without having  a fancy server manager panel.

I think Webmin is NOT compatible with sme server, the whole structure of templates clashes with webmin way of doing things, don't use it.

Would like to take the time to thank you for your help.

I have now running :
MRTG
Dansguardian (a must since I have 5 PCs + 2 laptops at home & 5 kids)
PhpSysmon

What a great help.

Now I still need to find out :
ntop - to drill down: who, where, when and how much traffic per website
Online Antivirus for Samba/Dansguardian
IDE Tape backup drive

I will recommend this server OS to anyone and will present it at our LUG and next Linux-Meetup in Montréal, Canada.


Next step, will had RAID 1 and restart the whole installation.

Hi gatox,

Does an IDE tape backup work with SME if yes please provide a model or manufacturer.

I use Sony's AIT-1 drives on SME (both IDE and SCSI versions) ever since OnStream Drives (IDE and SCSI versions) went bye - bye.

I also use Arkeia for the backups and not SME's built in flexbackup.
