Topic: Problem with sending mails to Mail-Providers

Hi folks,

today i discovered the following problem with SME 6.0.1 and my Outlook-Config:

When i want to send mails to a mail-provider via SMTP the SME Server gets the mail itself and sends it over the built in SMTP Server (or does he not?) - the problem is now, that the provider-site spam-software recognises via mailheader that the mail is sent over an other mail server than the mail should have been sent over.

What i want is that the Mail is directly sent to the Mail provider and not over SME. Can i stop the service or whatever is responible for this problem?

In your server-manager go to the e-mail settings.

There's an option:
Address of Internet provider's mail server

this way is unusable for me because there are more than one mail server..

any other tips?

If you have the sme server as the smtp server in outlook then try changing it (in outlook) to the smtp server of your mail provider.

Pick one of them.  Your ISP has most certainly provided you with at least one SMTP server from which to send mail.  Pick one and plug it into the SME box.

This is not a problem with SME.  This is an attempt to block spam on the part of the ISP by denying email sent from a residential IP Address.  If you use your ISP's SMTP server your email will get to its destination.

...this is the culprit ...
and with your t-online account/dial-in  
(note: t-online started that sh*t in germany .-)...
and gmx and soon with web.de ...
you are "dead" with your "t-online mass domain" = IP.

They all use the same list of public-ip's (dial-in) and will no longer accept smtp mail from those

Solution: get a full gmx account and use their smtp in the sme settings - like medimo and brian said .-)

... or use all the respective webmail sites if you want to send/receive directly with a "correct" address and forget about the built in smtp...
