LiNUX Guru's.. this one may make you giggle..
I'm a Linux user for apx 3-4 yrs now, familiar with Linux, RPM's and configuration tools...

Now that I am using SME 6.0 (Lovin'it) I may never go back to a "regular" Redhat setup.. HOWEVER.. This is the part yur going to laugh at..

"What RPM's do I need to install in order to be able to compile bin's using MAKE or MAKEInstall?" Or are they already installed by default??

Install the 'dev-tools' for SME 6.

The SME way of storing is a bit confusing (even for a non newbie) (IMnsHO that is )

There seemingly always are several places to look
Go to the "contribs" area HERE, sepcifically:

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/hpe/devtools-6.01/dev-rpms/

wget "everything you see" into a fresh directory
rpm -Uvh *      it
voila - this should get you started...

P.P.S: I should not fail to tell you that Charlie Brady (the development head while it was still MITEL) says:
A search of the archives will show that our recommendation is (and always
has been) to use a RedHat system for development. Very few sme rpms will
be needed for development. e-smith-devtools, perl-Test-inline and
perl-XML-Parser are the only extras I'm aware of.
