Topic: I can access the server by the ip address but not by name

I installed SME server 6.0 on a machine on my lan and named it yogi.lan

I can access the server from other machines using the ip address (192.168.1.3) but I cannot access it using yogi.lan or
www.yogi.lan or
yogi.yogi.lan
or www.yogi.lan/server-manager

what could be the reason?

Try  http://yogi/server-manager

Do not add the .lan address to the server itself.  Naming it yogi.yourdomain.com is the right way to do it.
