I've had D. May's apcupsd contrib installed on a 5.6U6 box with an APC SU1000RM Smart-UPS and it was operating fine. The same files as available here:

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/mitel/contrib/apcupsd/

Upon doing an upgrade to 6.01-01 the panel in server-manager was still present and was operating perfectly.

After doing a clean install of 6.01-01 and then installing the contrib it again is operating flawlessly.

So, no problems. I just thought this post should make its way into the search database as at least one example of success.

Hi Dave,

I've just installed these RPM's on my SME 6.0.1-01 machine and I get a nice server-manager panel in which I can configure my APC SmartUPS 700INET.
After configuring it with the same parameters as I did a while back on my 5.1.2 machine, I see an additional graph in sysmon. The multimon.cgi page, however, doesn't work by default because it is placed in the "old" primary ibay. I just copied the files to the "new" primary ibay's cgi-bin directory, but the page isn't able to show me information about the UPS (it did on SME 5.1.2). I get this error @ http://www.bastin.nu/cgi-bin/multimon.cgi:

thabrain.bastin.nu       Not available: upsfetch: tcp_open failed for 127.0.0.1 port 7000

As said, this configuration worked exactly the same on my previous 5.1.2 machine but simply doesn't at my new server :(

Do you, or anyone else, have any idea how to solve this?

The reason it dont work is because the Primary folder was moved to ibays/Primary....I would try moving files to the new location, I havent tried this yet so if you can or if i get time I will report back here

Please read a little bit better...I copied the cgi files to the cgi-bin dir of the "new" Primary i-bay. If I didn't, you weren't able to visit the multimon.cgi page :)

As the error message says, the UPS isn't accessible at port 7000. I'm not a firewall expert, so I don't know what changed at "ports level" in the new SME version. As said, this config worked on my old 5.1.2 server. I don't know what to change to let it work properly.

Dave, what type of data-cable do you use?
i have a SU1000RM too and don't get it to work.
apcupsd tells me that there is a wrong cable.

cheers

My APC Smart-UPS 700INET is working fine now. Although I had the serial ports enabled in BIOS, setting them to "auto" did the trick. I only had to change the ttySx port from 0 to 1 and the multimon ups monitoring page is working now (as is the sysmon graph).

I use a "smart" cable, which I made myself by using THISscheme.

For the record: I use SME 6.0.1-01 on an Intel 440BX equipped motherboard.

Timothée
