Installation with custom drivers

Hi,

I'm after some info on installing SME Server using drivers other than those on the install CD. Specifically, I want to be able to use version 1.18f or higher of megaraid with SME 5.6. I'm installing onto a Dell PowerEdge 1750 which has a PERC 4/Di SCSI/RAID card. The version of megaraid included on the install cd (1.18a) doesn't support this card, so I cannot install (no hard drives found). I believe SME 6.0 has an updated version of megaraid, and I'll use this is necessary but 5.6 would be preferable.

Dell has a binary of the megaraid driver compiled for RedHat 7.3 (seems to be compiled against kernel 2.4.18-3), but it won't load the module - I'm guessing because it doesn't match the kernel used during installation. I've even managed to get the installer to prompt for a driver disk, and it finds the driver but can't seem to use it.

So what I want to know is, is there any way to update the version of the driver used in the installation (and the driver that actually gets installed)? I'm willing to try creating my own install cd - my guess is that I'll need to recompile the kernel rpms as well as the module (and kernel?) used by the install program. But I really don't know how to go about this.
