Topic: Log for dynamic DNS?

Is there a log someplace that reports dynamic DNS updates? Was doing the dynamic DNS via my router, but I wanted to use the SME 6.0 box as a firewall because it seems more robust than the basic capabilities built into my cheap router. I looked at the yi.org admin page and it reports no update in a long while. Thought it was supposed to happen on server reboot.

I found this the the messages log:

I don't know how to interpret it. Does that mean it fails? The yi.org admin interface shows my last update on 2004-04-19 18:23:39, but I don't know if that means I'm not updating or it just didn't need updating. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Looking at the yi.org documentation it mentions that the address should be:
http://www.yi.org/cgi-bin/dyndns.fcgi

My log shows:
Apr 28 09:26:00 server e-smith[1650]: Can't Access http://www.yi.org/bin/dyndns.fcgi?ipaddr=24.73.61.24'

It's missing the the "cgi-" that should be in front of "bin". How do I correct that?

I found a config file for yi.org at
/sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/yi

It had a line with the offending http address missing the "cgi-"

Is it OK to just add the "cgi-" to it there or is there a template or something else that has to be changed as well? I don't like messing with configs without some idea about what it will do. What do you think?

OK, I think I figured it out. Even a blind hog finds the occassional acorn

The yi.org website issues users an account ID and password. The setup for yi.org dynamic DNS in the server configuration asks for an account, but for the purposes of logging in to update your IP it should be the domain as registered with them, not the account ID. The password is the same as you use to  logon to the yi.org account. Once I got that in place I was able to see the DNS update timestamp on my yi account change to the last server boot time.

All is well in the world of my SME server, at least for the moment.
