Kmail client with 6.01 problems
« on: May 07, 2004, 11:07:36 PM »
I wish to use Kmail for email connecting to SME server 6.01 using IMAP, but Kmail seems to go into endless recursion and finally crashes.

What happens is that sub-folders get duplicated inside themselves, and then inside the duplicates and so on and so forth. The folder tree gets bigger and bigger and deeper and deeper until Kmail crashes. I've tried most available configuration options for Kmail to no avail. This happened with Kmail 1.5, so I upgraded to 1.6.1 with KDE 3.2.1 and the same problem persists.

Kmail works fine with an old server running 5.1.2 but having migrated across to the new server running 6.01 I can no longer use Kmail. All the other email clients I've tried work fine, it just seems to be a problem with Kmail. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas?

TIA
David.

I'm running Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.5, kde 3.2.1 and Kmail 1.6.1 on my client machine. The server is SME server 6.01 - the contribs version - with no custom modifications although I've added a few essentials like virus checking, spam filtering etc.

I had this problem. The only solution I found was to not have any IMAP sub-folders.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks. :-(

I've searched around a bit and the problem seems to be with Courier IMAP and Kmail. There does not seem to be a fix yet - I guess I'll stay with Thunderbird.

David.
