Hello,

Changing the password is handled via a user panel that the user can access.

user-manager is nice but it seems you need to
get the persons ip address and add it into the
remote access panel in server manager before
they can connect to user-manager.

I'm willing to pay and help test if somebody will
create an e-smith rpm for sork.

Sork is comprised of four Horde modules:

    * Accounts to manage the other modules.
    * Forwards to set e-mail forwards.
    * Passwd for changing passwords.
    * Vacation to set vacation notices.

Collectively these modules now comprise what is known as sork. There is a mailing list available for these modules. See
http://lists.horde.org/mailman/listinfo/sork/
for information or to subscribe.

Great drop me an email so we can compare notes. I've put together the passwd addon in an rpm package. Just need a few people to test it out before I fully release it. Works perfectly on my system but would be great if we could colaborate on this. And again if anyone (ross ???) would like to help testing the passwd addon for horde drop me an email.

Hi Rigger

I was actually looking for a way to enable my external user (not on local network) to change their passwords without giving them ssh access. It seems that this is the perfect way. My questions is:
Does changing the webmail password also change the system password? I would like the users to have the same password on their webmail and pop mail aswell as the system in general.
The second question concerns expiration of passwords. It seems to me that it is quit a security risk, that you cannot force users to chance their passwords. I found a script posted earlier on in 2002. You can see it here: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=12950.msg48829#msg48829
It seems to do the trick. I would be nice to have an server panel, where it could be managed. Unfortunatly I am not a computer whiz.  :-(  I just get ideas.  :-)  I know I am asking a lot. But if you never ask you will never get an answer.

Carsten

The user password in horde is their system password. With this addon it changes the users password for the system. No ssh required. Currently it is a regular connect and I am looking into having it require a secure connection (ssl).

Very interesting. Seem like this could work in comjuction with the horde password program. At login the the password age is checked and instead of going to the webmail inbox the password page is displayed with a popup warning to the expiration date. Sorry to say that's probably beyond my abilities though I'll look into it.

Once again if anyone is interest is beta testing this addon drop me an email.
