Topic: Converting backup email from sme 5.6 to 6.01

I have a client who backed up their email store to CD from the e-smith 5.6 server. We have replaced the mainboard etc, reinstalled a larger raid drive, then installed 6.01-01.

It was then I found that 5.6 and 6.01-01 had a very different email struction as in 5.6 used Maildir directories as opposed to 6.0 Mail directories, and the structure inside is also very different.

I know that 6.01-01 uses dovecot, and from what I have read, it is a better system, but I need to convert all the old emails to the new system. The client uses IMAP from their clients, so this needs to be done.

Any help (ie. conversion programs) would be muchly appreciated.

I am not saying this is going to work, but in some past posts it was recommended to run the
imap-relocate-maildirs script in
/etc/e-smith/events/actions.

Then check the file permissions of the users.  The mail should be in the users home directory Maildir directory.  If the users don't own the files do a chown -R user.user * in the user's home directory.

Please post back your results so I can see if this does indeed work or not.
