Should "mail.myvirtualdomain.com" work as the mail server name for smtp and pop3 for users outside the local network, or should I be using mail.mydoamin.com? My name server has mail.myvirutaldomain, com as a c record pointing to my server.
I have installed the secure smtp contrib, and am having a little trouble getting my clients configured.

Thanks

I may be wrong and Im sure that more experienced viewers will correct me if I am, but any virtual domain you use will not be pop3 configurable outside your local network unless you have the mx records changed for that domain name so it points to your server.

This is what I found when I first started to configure my email. Pop3/smtp worked fine within my local network for ANY virtual domain I set up. Managed to configure the machines using MS Outlook etc

I hope this helps and if I am wrong, please will someone correct me.

Regards
