Topic: SMTP port (25) unreachable from outside. How to solve ?

Hi,

Maybe somebody has been struggling with teh same problem as me. I've seen several postings about ipportfw but none of these settings works for me.

I have an ADSL (MxStream) Connection (dedicated) and changed the NAT inside the modem to throw it's information at the server from the ports 110, 80 and 25.

110 and 80 are showing with all scanners I used ... only port 25 still doesn't respond. From the inside it responds as if nothing is wrong.

WHY doesn't e-smith simply does the same to port 25 as it does to the other ports I open up. ??? WHO can help me in this matter ????

I don't think so... just opened the modem completely in ports (No NAT anymore) and it showed me (during a scan) ALL ports except the few that are very important. port 21, 23 (wich is logical to be blocked but should be ported) and 25 gave no response INSIDE the modem.

This must be a problem in this modem somehow. Guess I was too fast with my thoughts. So if anyone knows how the Tweaked ADSL modems from Alcatel port port 25 correct again, pls inform me too.....

Just opened port 21 on e-smith and it nicely showed in the list of open ports.

Now the problem resides OR at my ISP OR in e-smith and I know that the e-smith matter could be the most common problem because it shouldn't be reached from outside on port 25.

I Applied the " ipmasqadm portfw -a-P tcp -L 10.0.0.1 25 -R 192.168.70.5 25 "

Maybe somebody can think with me.
10.0.0.1 is my eth1 and 192.168.70.5 is my eth0
the modem is in PPP mode with NAT 'disabled' (forward all)
modem has ip addy 10.0.0.138

am I thinking wrong or should this work ???

I'm a newbie at e-smith and can't find anywhere in the literature where to open ports..

Is there an easy expkanation you could give me please???
I'd really appreciate it..
