MS Office and MS Windows XP - Activation Wizard fails... to find Internet connection.

Problem Statement:
The Internet connection is fully functional with Outlook and IExplorer working properly BUT MS Office 2003 and MS Windows XP fail to locate an Activation Server.

Solution:
I am using a Linksys Gateway (WiFi) which is also serving as a DHCP Server. When I use a static IP address all activation processes succeeded.

I believe Microsoft has a problem with DHCP assigned addresses in their Activation Scripts.

Hi - theres a thread on it here:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=20797.0

to quote
" David Bray posted a workaround:

In a terminal session, as root:
type:
echo 207.46.140.100 >/service/dnscache/root/servers/one.microsoft.com (in one line)
then:
svc -t /service/dnscache
then try to activate your product(s) "

If you try this pls report if it works - Thanks!
