I'm having terrible troubles with e-mail.
I have set up E-smith to pick up mail from my ISP by POP3 and deliver by SMTP. The ISP sits behind an ISDN LAN-modem, so to all intents and purposes the ISP looks like it is on my local network.
My local domain is 'acad'. The e-mail addresses are listed in the configuration review screens as being username@acad. BUT sending e-mail to this address gets bounced. Instead I must send e-mail to username@mail.acad. This seems strange, so I know something is not set up quite right.
When I send mail to my pop3 box and e-smith tries to pick it up, e-smith bouces it back to the sender saying it cannot deliver mail to username@acad.acad - even more strange. The original e-mail gets returned to the sender.
I have configured e-smith to send mail for unknown recipients to the administrator (would be nice if I could choose a different user - but that's another issue). Obviously that is not working (even if it were, how do I pick up mail from postmaster - there is no option to set or change the password. Is postmaster a real account?).
So - does any of this look familiar? If so, what could I be doind wrong? Where are the logs that tell me what is going wrong?
Thanks,
Jason
