FTP write access for i-bay's
« on: August 28, 2001, 04:33:12 PM »
How do I set up an i-bay for read and write access via FTP over the internet.
I can access and read files over FTP, but can't work out how to upload a file to an i-bay using FTP.

Thanks in advance.

Dan.

Dan,

1) Can you upload to the i-bay from the LAN?

2) Are you using a full-blown clinet? Current browsers will aloow you to upload and prompt for a username and password.

3) You say "can't work out how to upload a file" -- does this mean it doesn't work, or that you aren't sure ho to initiate the transfer in the first place?

Daniel,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes I'm using a full blown FTP client.
No I can't upload from my LAN or the 'net using FTP.
I don't know why (it might be me or the s'ware, but it's more likely to be me )

I can access the i-bay using samba file sharing for both read and write from the LAN however.

The i-bay does have a password assigned and as far as I can work out FTP read and write access is set correctly (Though I may be mistaken).

Hope this helps
Dan.

Try this link - http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=10827.msg40866#msg40866
It worked for me. Just do not modify the e-smith template directly, rather create a custom template and expand it.
