squidguard / sme6.01
« on: July 09, 2004, 07:27:14 AM »
Ive got squidguard (3.2) in and working: panel looks great and easy to use
BUT it does not seem to work.

When I used SG with sme5.6, there was a configuration file, but I can find no documentation on what to do with the new SG3.2 on sme6.01
to get it working once its installed!

Im sorry if this is a duplicate posting (I DID search), but Im stuck and cant find doc / info to complete this.

TIA  :pint: Rob

well download/install all ok - v.easy.
panel is in place, and i can change settings there.

i set an IP to restrict, but it still gets access.

am i needing to link the 'banned' sitelists?
how do i achieve total ban of www for some ip's?
(in the old one editing the conf and ipsec did these)
TIA Rob :pint:

if you want to totally ban IP's you will need to do search on here for the squid documents as i rember answering a post like this a while ago...or you could use this http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/aloveless/contribs/ipblock_inet/

always read the readme first

HTH

PS. all ips are set as restricted in first place, only setting you can change is setting an IP to FULL access.

Thanks byte! THIS seems to install and be in place -
although the server-manager says 'add IPs to block' whereas your suggest they are all blocked to begin with?
As Ive tried it is seems you do indeed (per the SME screen ADD the IPs to block!)
THANKS AGAIN, Rob

Rob,

I meant the PS bit refer to the SQUIDGUARD not the ip_block  :hammer:

Aussie, are you sure you connect through squid on the default port 3128?
