I need help finding a Contrib. I rebuilt one of my servers that had a wonderful Contrib on it I believe was called "Web Share". It was just like the one I believe the D May made. Only difference was it had more advance options. Now maybe I'm dreaming but I thought the Contrib had advanced features like where you wanted to point the upload/download files to. Other advanced features where permissions for users to limit them to upload only or download only etc... If anybody knows what I'm talking about please let me know. I can't seem to find the Contrib anywhere. [While your at it if you happen to find my brain please return it too.]

Wow a response from an Administrator...I must be special now. :-)  [Do to all the negative stuff that has been said I thought I’d try to be polite and drop some praise where it is do.]

I've tried WFB before but could never get it to work. I could download all I wanted but upload never worked. Love the simplicity of the program, and the fact that you can run multiple copies of it in different IBays. Now if I could just get it to work would be great. Still wish I could find the version I had of  Webshare I had. It was nice that you could make all the changes directly in the Server Manager. [Unless I dreamed the whole thing up it’s still out there somewhere.]

It's easy enough to install but I still like the Contrib I can't find.

Nice features:
1.) Very Customizable - HTML Templates are easy to edit and make it what you want.
2.) Multi File Uploads - You can upload more than one file at a time.
3.) Easy to install - Just follow the install html and it works. The install.php file finishes the install process with ease.
4.) GZip - You can compress files.
5.) Nice starter template if you going to make a large download site.

Things I don't like (for my purposes).
1.) Don't want to customize it. Although it runs right out of the box I find that I have to change several things I don't like. Also makes it interesting if you want to run it in more than one IBay. Basicly it's too powerful for what I want.
2.) Would like to set up different folders for different projects. ie. Project A = /home/e-smith/files/ibays/projects/project_a/ or Project B = /home/e-smith/files/ibays/projects/project_b etc.Actually you could do this with Invision Power File Manager but you have to know more to do it.
3.) Would rather have a simple Server Manager entry like WebShare.

Nope - close but the contrib I used to have had the advanced features built into the server-manager. [If I can't find it soon I'll have to believe it was some thing I dreamed about.]

I've just come across this thread, which looks like it might fit a requirement of a client of mine.

However, given that the ibay structure separates the files and html directories, if a tool like webfilebrowser is used, can the files uploaded be accessed via Samba?

Thanks,

Webfilebrowser or Invision Power File Manager
« Reply #8 on: August 09, 2004, 06:14:14 AM »
I've used both webfilebrowser and Invision Power File Manager (the one mentioned in this thread). If I remember correctly webfilebrowser and Invision Power File Manager can do what you want. Actually I know Invision Power File Manager can because I'm doing it right now. In Invision Power File Manager when you set it up you simply set up the root path to where you want your file access to be i.e. /home/e-smith/files/ibays/ibay-name/files).

The only thing I don't like about that kind of arraingment is that the internal Samba Share users wind up with access to ibay-name/cgi-bin, ibay-name/html and ibay-name/html. As long as the local users don't mess with the html configuration your ok. I've seen some contrib somewhere that lets you set advanced Samba settings but I've never tried them.

Maybe somebody else will comment with a better way to set this up. I was thinking about useing two ibays to do this. One with the external html files and the other one, set to local file access, with the files to share but I don't think that permissions would work out right.
