Topic: Private IP addresses on both NICs

Hi!

Anyone know if there is any reason Smeserver would fail to be administrable via the web interface if I brought its external NIC up in a 192.168.1.0 subnet and its internal NIC in a 192.168.187.0 subnet?

I've done this and turned on remote networks ssh access etc. I can also connect by http but httpd always says I don't have permission to the "/server-manager/" directory.

Has web access via the external NIC been turned off and, if it has, is there a reasonably secure workaround?

I beleive if you look at the documentation it explains this , but here it is in a nutshell.

You can not access server-manager via external ip for security reasons. You can work around this by connecting via vpn then accessing via the local ip.

With your Internal connection, connect to your server-manager interface.  Then select the Security Remote access option.  Near the top you will find a Remote Management option where you can supply the IP address or range of IP address you will allow to connect to the Server-manager interface from the outside world.  BE VERY CAREFUL, may cause significant problems if someone can hack your password.

Then to connect you need to specify https://Your Domain/server-manager, supply your admin account and password and your in.
