I've installed and have been administering SME Server 6.01 (from the ISO release) for a small community organisation and it works wonderfully. The configuration is currently set to "Server & Gateway - Dialup" (don't know if I should set it to Private as we don't serve webpages, etc but that's another issue)
Upon installing Dungog's Dialmon contrib to try and get the modem to connect and disconnect at my convenience, after a short while, the internet connection stayed connected but stopped responding, while before the installation it would stay up all day.
I tried out the config options on the dungog contrib panel, to no avail. After removing the dialmon installation everything was fine again.
Is there any other contrib or rpm etc that will allow me access to the dialup modem, or a better method for installing Dialmon?
This organisation doesn't have a lot of cash so being able to lengthen the timeout period to say 4 hours or so would be great as an alternative. Leaving the server on and the connection set to Continuous isn't an option (currently that is what the server is set to, however it is shutdown each night - which isn't ideal). The Short, Medium and Long options don't offer a long enough time-out period for the connection to stay up. Is there any way that I can lengthen the time-out for the "Long" connection setting perhaps?
Thank you,
Andrew
