Kernel panic mssing init

Hello everyone,

I have a SME 5.6 server which has been working fine for about a year which now has a serious problem.

We had a power blackout and the server went down and now when it boots I get the message,

kernel panic missing init.

I need a fix, I have been reading across the web but have found nothing for the Mitel SME server

Thanks in advance.

If you can ctrl x on boot to allow a single user logon (and it gives you a prompt) then run fsck / to check for and fix filesystem errors.

If not you may need to run an upgrade install over the top and cross your fingers.  You have a backup of any critical data I presume??

If the server is not too heavily customised it may pay to just put in another HDD and re-install from scratch; mount old disk and attempt to copy off any data required.
