D-link DE-528CT Not Working with NE2K-PCI Drivers
« on: September 09, 2001, 01:07:17 AM »
I am installing a new ESSG 4.1.2 server. I am using a D-link DE-528CT NIC (has the Reaktek 8029 chip) for my external (Eth1) NIC, and a 3COM 3C-905 as my internal NIC (Eth0).

Although the ESSG setup program recognizes the card and installs the supported ne2k-pci driver, it refuses to work.

I have used this particualr model of NIC card in other servers. I know that this NIC  card is good because I can install and use it under Windows 98 just fine.

Any ideas? Has support for this card changed?

Hi Marco,

Probably not a lot of use to you, but I have had quite a few issues with cards that were all supposedly compatiable based on the RTL8139 (?) chipset-most worked fine but a couple simply would not.
It may pay to try a few different cards-apparently Kingston cards are great. Mind you, the RTL ones I have been using from Trendnet are cheap enough to have a few lying around that I can swap in and out of boxes until I find one that works.
