MondoRestore and RAID1
« on: August 18, 2004, 07:50:39 PM »
Has anyone had success backing up a Raid1 SME install with Mondoarchive and then restoring?  I have only tried on one server and continually it failed when trying to format the hard drives.  Is there a trick to this?

Thanks in advance.

I have with luck done it on a VIA mini ITX 533Mhz board with one 30G and one 40G in RAID1 (30G total), using the onboard controller.
But it failed when using a Promise Fasttrack TX100 and two 200G disks, on the same board. However everything went smooth until the reboot after the restore. Then it failed, but i don't remember why (sorry).

In other words: With standard HW it works!

How about with the option for software RAID1 given in SME by default?

Sorry i didn't make it clear... It was in both cases with software RAID1 from the option given at install. The Promise contr. is NOT a RAID contr. but just enabled me to use my 200Gb disks on that motherboard

Mondo restore

Mondo did not even work with a SCSI Setup here (Adaptec 2940UW). And it also did not work with a Hardware RAID-Controller (DAC960PG), which is otherwise perfectly supported by SME.

So it must have something to do with driver support.
