Topic: Management of HHD under RAID 1 or higher

Hello,

I have a controler PCI card based on SIL0680 chip to provide IDE RAID 1 interface to my DELL PowerEdge 2200 server.

I thought of using the LED connector to check visually if my two HDD work properly simultaneously (Primary Master and Secondary Master) but, the connector on my card provides me with only 2 pins so I can only plug one LED on.

The IDE RAID controler is based on Silicon Image SIL0680 chip and I want to know when a HDD needs to be replaced.

Then, I'm looking for a little(?) software (a demon?) which permits me to survey if the "RAID 1" or/and each HDD is/are working properly and tells me when a HDD has a problem.

If a software like this exists, can you tell me what it's called, where to find it, and how to use it with my SME server 5.6 ? (I'm a beginner on Linux...)
