Hi gurus !

My question is How to use LDAP ?
I use Outlook Express to get my emails from my server
and I'm :

 - wondering what exactly is ldap ?
 - how to use it ?

I heard that LDAP is an adress book for a company.
So every user have the same adress book updated directly
from the server..

hello XWP,

I would like to explain to you what ldap is but in english it's not easy to me...( par contre je peux t'aider en français c'est plus simple pour moi).
I will try: ldap is a database where infos about user are inserte by e-smith.
When you use webmail and you try to find a e-mail address ldap search in the base and show you result ( with some filter).
If you want to use of it with OE, you must add a 'service d'annuaire' ( outil->compte, service d'annuaire, ajouter) then you put the name of the server and the first step is finish. After you must open a second time service d'annuaire and open the new compte that you have creat and add some information:
outils/comptes => window comptes internet, double-clic on the service annuaire that you have juste add, go on 'avancé' and put the name of the base: dc=XXX,dc=XXX'. Normally the name of the base is the name of your domaine ( in my case i have domain=afpabretagne.com, and my base is dc=afpabretagne, dc=com).
