Hi there guys, please can someone help me with my question.

Ive got sme 6 and its up and running and the proxy works great.
At the moment everyone on the lan just has the proxy setting in there browser and then they can surf. What id like to do is this. certain computers id like for them to 1. have to enter a user name & password for acces. 2. Be limited to the amount of download per month. EG: only download 1GIG per month or limit speed if possible. EG: only get 5Kbps download speed.
Id perfer it if they just had a capped limit.
Please can someone help me. im not the most clued up person when it comes to linux.
Thanx everyone

Hi Warren
type restrict internet access into the search and click on show all results, there is a heap on this. Start here http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=23453.0
You can install a contrib that forces a login to use the internet and you can restrict in various ways
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=22616.0
Not sure about the d/l amount but sarg reports will tell you the traffic by lan ip address and you can set quota on ibays.
Good luck

Hi Warren
There is a more recent sarg, I am using 1.2.2-1 but your will work OK. Easiest way I have found is to copy the rpms to install to a subdir on SME that has no other rpms in it. Putty to SME, change dir to where your two rpms are and type rpm -Uvh *.rpm  Hit return and it will install both rpms. You will get a panel in server manager but wont see anything useful until it updates.
good luck

Hi there, Thanks very much, it works like a charm.
One other question while im at it.

Let me first give you my senario.
SME server 6, running GW server. ADSL Router with changing ip. Im currently using dyndns to update ip. Working graet.
Got one domain registered, hosting 1 website.

Say id like to have a differnt website hosted aswell. Is this possible? Even though ive only got one External IP to play with. I have been reading about virtual domain.? Is this the route? and how?
Please give me any advise. Thanks alot

Hi
Glad it worked. Yes it should be as easy as creating a virtual domain, putting its index.html file in an ibay and getting whoever is hosting that domain to point at your SME. There is a bit about this in the SME Admin guide - see Documentation on this site. Also do a search on the forum as there have been a few threads lately on people having the primary site respond instead of the virtual.
I have not done this with a dynamic ip but plenty of people do, start a new thread if you need help on this and others will respond.
Good luck
Brian

Yes it's possible. It can be configured from the admin panel. First make a ibay, then set ut a new virtual domain pointing at it.
