windows update cron messages

Hi,
I'm using Nightpirits e-smith-windowsupdate_cache contrib from
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/nightspirit/e-smith-windowsupdate_cache/
and it SEEMS to be working... but I've been getting frequent messages from the cron daemon (3 days running now) - contents...
/etc/cron.daily/check_store:
check error - probably no last-modified header
http://download.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v5/redir/wuredir.cab
/opt/windowsupdate_cache/download.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v5/redir/wuredir.cab
Looking up download.microsoft.com
download.microsoft.com
Unable to locate remote host download.microsoft.com.
Alert!: Unable to connect to remote host.
lynx: Can't access startfile
http://download.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v5/redir/wuredir.cab
...
what is this telling me? I can go to that address with a browser. Does this mean that there are no new updates? or that it's just a transitory comm failure like I get periodically from freshclam updates? or that I have an actual problem? Any enlightenment is appreciated!

I'm getting these messages too (last 4 days or so) -
Could this be to do with the fact that windowsupdate recently went to v5.windowsupdate.com? I would think that everything just gets redirected from
www.windowsupdate.com
but it seems to be a bit of a coincidence.....?

messages have stopped for the time being... none yesterday or today, so I assume it is now updating and maybe it was an M$ problem, maybe the version update mentioned?
Thanks anyway!
