Reinstalling Server-manager
« on: September 11, 2004, 07:40:24 AM »
Been searching for about 5 hours and can't find the answer.

After a borked install of Clam, I can't change i-bay or user configuration through the server-manager panel. I think I can fix it by reinstalling the server manager. How do I do this in ver 6.0(current)?

Thanks........

Henry

I did a full re-install and restore. No luck

I can create i-bays and users from the text based manager, just not the web based manager. Reboot/shutdown dosen't work either.

The clients are running either xp pro sp1 or xp pro sp2, no difference in result.

Hmm, not a lot to go on, buutttt ...

What borked the install of Clam, at what point did it fail, lockup, reboot the server, or whatever?

Try running the Clam install script from Jesper Knudsen to 'repair' stuff.

Try issuing the command /sbin;e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade to force SME to reconfigure itself (followed by a reboot of course).

I can't think of anything offhand in the Clam install routine that would affect the server manager unless the panel installation was the componenet that failed thereby leaving the server manager somewhat screwy.  A manual un-installation of the panel and clam may be an option.

Make sure that userpanel (if installed) is good - perhaps doing a --force of the rpm may help.

Thats all my 'stream of dribble' can come up with for now :-)

Good luck

I'm thinking that a manual un-install and re-install of the panel might do the trick. Is there any place where I can get clear step-by step instructions on how to do this?

After a fresh install and restore, the problem remains.

Adding, modfying or deleting a user or i-bay through the panel has no effect. Same goes for trying to re-boot or shut down through the panel.

The text mode works as designed. I can add, modify or delete to my hearts content.

After a few hours of de-bugging and finding nothing out of place, I tried booting into Knoppix and accessing the panel. Low and behold, all is well.

In fact, using any other browser than Opera, all is well.

Go figure..........
