Admin Console Configuration Interface : BUGs
« on: September 14, 2004, 05:26:18 PM »
Hello,

I'm using SME 6.0.1 on my hardware (listed below) :

When I open configure way and just validate all params like in SME 5.6, SME 6.0.1 ask me to apply changes but there is no change. With SME 5.6, in this case of no change, it ask nothing and only tells me "no change".

Then, habitually, I validate "Quit" command but, my console is configured on "Auto" mode and here, I can see a screen "Your configuration is being updated and will restart" (something like this) but there is NO CHANGE. Why!????

It's very dangerous because, I was checking configuration while I was transfering data between my computer and this server... :o(

Hello,

Do you speak (read) french ?

I'll try to be "clear" :

When I tell "Admin Console", I want to tell the TEXT Interface blue and grey wich is available when you configure your SME server at start. (Admin PW, Ethernet NIC configuration, etc...)

With SME 6.0.1 :

0°/ The server is configured correctly for my needs. It restart (after reboot) and is OK to work. On the Screen, I have the Admin Console available because the parameter is "Auto-Login".

1°/ I use "2. Configurer ce serveur" command from this  console.
2°/ I only press the [Enter] key to check and validate the parameters (like when I used SME 5.6) and at the end, I have a message "La nouvelle configuration prendra effet lors du redémarrage du serveur." "Voulez-vous redémarrer immédiatement?" [Oui]/[Non]

When I use SME 5.6, I have a message like this : "Configuration have no change, press OK to continue"
If I press OK (no other choice) I go back to the console only.

With SME 6.0.1, I must press [NO] button if not, the server restarts.

Now, it's a little bug but, if you are under pressure and use "fastly" the [enter] key to check the parameters while a file transfert is performing, you risk (like me) to have a bad joke like a server reboot...

Why this Interface was modified like this ?
I don't seen any change about the settings avaiblable trought this interface. I thinked it was the "same" without Internet Connection Test. (because the test was performed with the MITEL website or Network)

I hope it's beter like this. ;o)

Bonjour ;-)

I just checked it on a fresh 6.0.1-1 and I get the normal "No changes, press enter to proceed" and get back to the start. Your config _thinks_ something has changed.

It sounds like:
A. You made a change in the config or...
B. Your config is out of sync with db settings etc

For B, try do a '/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save' and see how you go after that. Maybe even do a '/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade' after that.

Bonne Chance!

Zao an ! ;-) (do you understand the phonetic representation of chinese)

In 1st, I tried '/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save' only and the problem persists.

In 2nd, I tried '/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save' and '/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade' and 'su admin' from a SSH session.

Issue is : I'm waiting to access to admin because, now, the server have a lot of disk access.

Now, The SSH screen session was cleared and I try su admin again whith success.

I try again to check configuration like explained before and the server applying changes (no change...) but, actually, is not rebooted.

Now, I reuse 'su admin' and... I check again and obtain, again, "changes must be apllied"...

 :-?

May be it is a problem with the french installation ?

Xie xie (=Merci)

P.S.
I use PuTTY.exe for Windows to access in SSH.

'su admin' ??

Just ssh as root (or user and then su) or the console is in auto  mode. Not sure what you mean.

Hello,

SSH as ROOT, yes in parallel to a "normal" access from the console with a screen and keyboard on the server.

I tested both. Identical problem.

When I use su command, it's to switch from ROOT to ADMIN.

Sorry. ;-)
