Multiple Servers

I have been running a single e-smith server for about 6 months, flawlessly!  I now need to install a second server (DNS and second web server), and haven't been able to find any information that allows me to make the necessary changes.

Right now, I'm set up with x.x.x.x as the external IP address, x.x.x.y as the second address, and x.x.x.z as the internal server.  All addresses are public (routeable) IP addresses, not private ones.  My individual workstation has a static IP address for VPN purposes, and my other computers (4) receive DHCP addresses out of the block.

Is there something I need to do to make this configuration work?  Is it something that gets set up at the gateway e-smith server?  I have even been unable to reach the server outside the LAN.

Hi I posted the below query before but never had any response maybe you can help as it seems you are hoping to do the same thing.

What would the advantage be to setting up a dedicated server for a gateway, one for HTTP one for FTP and another for a Mail server?

They would not be in heavy use but what I'm thinking is running each service on a separate machine so that the specs of the machines don't have to be high spec. (early pentiums with 64-128 ram on each)

Is it relativly easy to setup 3 machines in this way? (I guess not from what I have seen here)

They would all be conected to the internet over a cable modem service and all share the same external IP address (as long as this works) I would be happy to hear your coments and to know from anyone that has set this kind of system up.

You can just setup the second server and redirect all the requests for the services to the new box.

Once this is working you can make some changes in /etc to turn off the uneeded services.
