SME 6.01 and Securmail 6.0 - Email not sending externally.
« on: September 20, 2004, 09:41:00 PM »
Anyone have a minute to help a newbie to the Linux world.  I’m having some problems with my SME 6.01 / Securemail 6.0 server.

My server has been up and running for about 3 months now, no problems until now…

After moving last week, and changing ISPs, I’m having no luck sending mail externally.  I have updated the DNS/MX entries, I have update the server IP and DNS address to point to the new addresses (The test internet connection comes back successfully) but no outgoing mail, not even any non-delivery or failure messages.  Basically it looks as though they are sending fine, but I’ve checked the mail log files and I see my message queue is just holding them.

Email to my server from the outside world is being delivered with no problems.

All internal email sends and receives with no problems.

I rebuilt the server last night in desperation, and same I’m still in the same boat.

Anything I may have missed?  Any idea what I may need to double check?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too am having this problem.  I have done two things to the box recently, 1:  Changed IP.  2: INstalled Nagios for SME.  Are either of these causing this?

Is your ISP blocking outgoing port 25 traffic from its network?  Some ISPs do this to force you to use their smarthosts.  If you put their smarthost (eg. mail.example.com) in the "delegate server" box of e-mail in the server-manager, it may well work.
