write access to Ibays from FTP?

Can't find the solution to this one.

How do I enable write access on Ibays using the 'Ibay-user' and FTP? Connecting and reading works like a charm, but not writing.

Hi PsyDuck,

in the server manager, select ibays and then select modify for the ibay you want to enable write access to, now make sure that you have selected a group other than admin, you don't want to logon as admin, then in User access via file sharing or user ftp select write for the group and read for the group, and for Public access via web or anonymous ftp select public password required, and also make sure in the server manager under remote access  where it says FTP access limits set it to public if your trying to access it remotley which i take it you are, and i'm not sure but for FTP user account access you might have to make that public (but not sure)

hope that helps
cheers

Hmmm....I basically did all the things you mentioned. As I explained I can connect to the Ibay with FTP and download whatever is in there, BUT not upload any files (or create folders etc.).

Is there a special non-write permissions when I access an Ibay using the 'Ibay user' and 'Ibay passwd'??

Well the main thing is in the ibay properties, make sure that the group has write access, it might be set to admin write and group read.

hope that helps

Thanks for trying.....

The problem is probably that the 'Ibay user' (And when I say 'Ibay user' I'm refering to the name of the Ibay and NOT a user cretad under 'Users') isn't part of the group I select. For some reason the Ibay isn't owned by the ibay user......hmmm...

Is there a correct way of making the Ibay user the owner of its Ibay?

I am having a similar problem, perhaps you can help.  I have the server set up to allow ftp access, a group set up and configured as read/write for this ibay and users added to the group, and yet when i log in as one of these users through FTP, i can only see home and maildir folders.  If i log in as admin, i can see all of them.  I am able to access the ibay through samba with these accounts though, but that won't help me in situations where I need FTP access from the internet without the vpn connection in.  Do I need to reboot the server or anything like that for the changes to take effect?
Thanks
Adam

Not the same problem but something that easily can be solved with the 'dungog-proftpd-chroot-0.1-5.noarch.rpm' package from 'dungog.net'.

All users, no matter what group they belong to, will be placed in their homedirectory when they login via FTP. Simply change to the parent directory a couple of times  and you will be able to reach all Ibays.

Seems like Ibay-users is logged in as Anonymous users and therefore by default has no write access.

Anyone knows if there is an easy way to change this?

Sorry PsyDuck i just red my post and i wasn't suggesting that you need a nice user interface, but that some of my clients found FileZilla really easy to use.
