Topic: injecting email

I have an old email user, say 'olduser', now changed to 'newuser'.
BUT there are messages still in olduser/Maildir/new, and I want them into newuser.
(I tried to cp them, and even change the olduser to newuser in the text, but pop fails! - Im being too clever eh?)!
Clam is running on this system - can I 'inject' through that?
or what other neat way is there of fixing this?

Copy will work but you will have to change the Owner and Group to the 'newuser' name.
