Lycoris SME Server Brief Roadmap

Hi all,

Here's what we have for a roadmap.

For our first release, we do minor touch-up to the current 6.01
contribs.org release.  We have both a GPL edition for free download and a
Lycoris-branded commercial release.  Here's what we plan to do:

- add RH/Fedora errata, Samba 3, and a newer kernel with SMP and bigmem
- update the backup software, e-smith-* packages
- update squid, qmail, python, proftpd, dovecot, horde, netatalk, lilo
- add logwatch, Lazy Admin Tools

For the Lycoris-branded version, we will also add an automatic update
system [probably yum-based] and anti-virus support [probably clamAV].
And of course, we'll provide support.

These aren't cast in stone, but we're a fair ways along the development
process.  We "should" have an alpha ISO available for download in short
order [Monkey has had some technical issues to overcome, or else it would
have been released already].

After this first release we intend to sync up with CentOS or some other
form of RHEL [whitebox?] as a high priority.  We'll also address how to
manage the proliferation of contribs by providing some [as yet to be
determined] quasi-official way of keeping track of all the myriad of
contribs, what they do, where to get them, etc.

Time frames will be announced after we are code complete.

Thanks!

Joe

I don't think so with the first realase. As they are staying with RH 7.3. Juste moving to kernel 2.4.20-30.7 from fedora legacy and things like that.

May be with next one using a fork of RHLE 3.0.

I just hope that the new kernel will support the RedHat drivers for my RocketRaid 404 or 133 controler.

Updating MySQL and PHP would be good too.

Cheers
