D-link 530T Gigabit Network Card Drivers
« on: November 29, 2004, 01:02:41 AM »
Hi - Have bought a Dlink 530T as a previous post implied SME6 had drivers built in but my 6.0.1-01 custom does not appear to have them. Can some kind soul please email me the compiled drivers (sk98lin)and instructions in words of one syllable on how to install.
Many thanks
Brian

Post in haste, repent at leisure.
Sorry I have found that the sk98lin drivers are in 6.0.1 custom. However selecting them does not get the card working. Help appreciated.

modprobe sk98lin gives following errors

# modprobe sk98lin
/lib/modules/2.4.20-18.7/kernel/drivers/net/sk98lin/sk98lin.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20-18.7/kernel/drivers/net/sk98lin/sk98lin.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-18.7/kernel/drivers/net/sk98lin/sk98lin.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20-18.7/kernel/drivers/net/sk98lin/sk98lin.o: insmod sk98lin failed

Hi, I'm using 6.0.1-01 and am also having difficulties.  I've compiled the driver module and used insmod, but the device is still being listed an unknown in phpsysinfo.

Did you get this going?

Any recommendations on a cheap gigabit card that SME supports anyone?

For info, I have also tried a broadcom (crosses himself) 5703 - being a Compaq it wouldn't even recognise this in the bios.

I bought a Netgear GA311 (Realtek 8169 chipset) and SME6.0.1-01 custom detected it and installed the correct drivers. The Netgear was very cheap and works well. There are also drivers for the Intel chipsets.
