steriz,

The ITE IT8212 isn't really a hardware RAID Controller. - Like similar offers from Highpoint/Promise it's a Bios-Raid (iow an IDE controller+Raid Bios).

This stuff is almostl always slower and definitely inferior to a real Raid controller or a Linux software Raid.

Drivers for the "F" version of the chipset do work under SUSE 9.x but are slow ...

In the moment I have no direct access to the hardware  to check but you can go grab the binary&sourcecode for yourself at: http://www.ite.com.tw/  (be patient ... it used to be veeeeeerrrrryy slow)

The company had a hard time in 2003 and (if I remember correctly) underwent change of ownership. Several I/O products they made "lost support" during that phase and the sofware I've seen was all end of 02/mid'03 (+ buggy ).

Regards
Reinhold

P.S.: IMnsHO "dump it ...at least to a windows pc" and go for software raid on SME.
