A question for the Lycoris crew...

Would you ever consider offering professional certification for SME installation etc.?

People love paper so much these days, being able to say that you are a Certified Lycoris SME Server Installer/Engineer etc would definately come in handy.

Just a matter of how to do the accreditation i guess.

For exactly the reason i said above.

Alot of people have businesses that set up SME for organisations, it is always good to show someone "proof" that you know what you're doing.

Look at what Microsoft and Cisco do, its just doing the same thing for SME Server.

With regards to the job interview thing, although they may say "wtf is that", any certification is better than none.  They are hardly going to look down on you for it...

Sorry I work in the industry and there have been hordes of zombie certified paper MCSE's and Cisco "Engineers" that flooded the market and the value has come WAY down on certs..

People saw it as a way to make more money and didn't have a love for networking or computers..most of them never had a computer apart before..

The best one i've seen was the "Certified HP Printer Engineer" paper hanging on someone's cubical at work.LMFAO!

I agree with Black, There are two many paper certified engineers in the business.  I for one have taken and passed the MCSE for W2K, but had been installing and troubleshooting Windows boxes since Windows 3.1.  I though having the certification would help me move into a network admin type position.  Basically a waste of money, having the cert. didn't improve my chances at all.  Of course, Microsoft keeps sending me mail about upgrading my cert to W2K3, but so far have declined the privilege.

I think the certifications would be better, if the testing forced the applicant to actually prove their skills on real equipment with real time constraints.
