network card + driver

Hi
I've just installed SME Server v6.0u onto a computer and I'm having an issue with the network adapter. The adapter is an Intel PRO/1000 CT which is right on the motherboard. Unfortunately, the server manager doesn't automatically detect it. To work around it I slapped in a D-Link DFE-538TX.
Can someone give me some tips on how I would go about getting the driver for the Intel PRO/1000 CT adapter and setting it up? I also better mention that I'm a linux/unix novice.

Hi
I thought the Intel gigigabit (e1000) driver was installed in V6. If not see
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=24804.0
and
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=21155.0
After install go through the setup again as admin and manually choose the e1000 driver for the onboard card if it isn't now detected.
Goodluck

Hi Brian,
I took out the d-link, set the driver to the e1000, rebooted her and it's working fine. Thanks for the help.

I had a similiar problem.
motherboard = P4SCI
NIC = dual, onboard, gigabit, intel 825541 and intel 82547GI CSA
SME didn't automatically detect them. I downloaded driver:
e1000-5.2.22-sme6.i386.rpm
from:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/index.php?subdir=dmay%2Fsmeserver%2F6.x%2Fcontrib%2Fintel&sortby=name
installed it (rpm -Uvh filename), ran through the configuration again, selected the e1000 intel driver that had the closest part # and it worked like a charm.
Just thought that I would share my experience
