If I wanted to tour the world, and from internet cafes to upload my digital photos to my SME server, is anyone aware of an addon that will allow me to do it without ssh or sftp (as internet cafes don't let you use this).

It'd have to secure as opening ftp to the 'net is out of the question. I considered utlising the "user login" with access to a module such as "DocMan" under Mambo server (all running on SME) but my version of Mambo is too new for DocMan.

Maybe there's a simpler way ..... ? I don't need to display the photos - just store them until I get back.

BTW I'm not touring the world but someone else is.

PHPFM would do that just perfectly.  There is a post somewhere in the forums on how to use it*.

I use it on my server, well, i have it installed, i dont really use it, see for yourself:):

EDIT: sorry, here is a link to the home of phpfm:

http://phpfm.zalon.dk/

* actually, i think you just copy the files to the ibay of your choice, no mods needed.

Gallery works perfectly for this.
You can even upload you photos in a zip file and it unzips them for you.
You can install following Jespers how-to at http://sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/index.html

Hi Mumm-Ra

Thanks for the tip.

I did try gallery a while ago for my own uses but had php issues with the stock version. It needed so many changes that I got to the point that it wasn't worth screwing up the rest of the server.

Knowing that Jesper has a magic wand for this as well changes things.

In this instance I'll probably stay with PHPFM as it does what is required and I can burn a CD for the guy when he gets back, straight from SME (via NFS).

Cheers,

Damian

I've got the same thing here.

Cheeky mates wanting space on my server to upload pics when he's having fun going round the world.

Still waiting for the bungee pics though

The webshare contrib will allow secure https upload and download of files with the ability to have different users with different passwords, unfortunately not the sme users/passwords though. It installs a server manager panel to configure your webshares and users, see

Webshare is a packaging of PHPFM (certainly easier to install than rolling it yourself).

I was going to suggest Jesper's script for gallery also, I've run that for about 6 months and really like it, but the Greymatter Weblog rpm from dungog.net would give you an option of creating a journal besides posting the pics or any other type of file for that matter.
